NSW MARITIME RECOGNISES
INTERNATIONAL YACHTMASTER TRAINING (IYT)
‘YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE’ CERTIFICATES.
The ‘Master of Yachts 200 Tons’ (Offshore) certificate, formally known as the Master of Yachts 200 tons (offshore) certificate was approved for change by the MCA on 26th June 2006. The name change distinguishes this commercial ticket apart from other recreational Yachtmaster certificates, and reinforces IYT’s position in professional yachting.
NSW Maritime has approved the IYT training program for eligibility into the NSW Maritime examinations for Master Class 5 Sail and/or Coxswains Sail/Power.
This is great news for Australian men and women who hold the IYT Yachtmaster certificates now known as (MOY 200 tons), as this allows them to continue their commercial maritime careers, with the added benefit of this dual certification enabling them to work both internationally and in Australia.
This new development is a landmark for leading Australian sail trainers Club Sail Superyacht Crew Academy who deliver the International Yachtmaster Training programs, in Sydney. This NSW Maritime approval is only for training that has been conducted or assessed by Club Sail Pty Ltd. and is only available to holders of IYT Yachtmaster certificates.
The Directors of Club Sail, Christopher and Deborah Brown, announced that
“their relationship with NSW Maritime and the professional approach taken by the government body has enabled this high quality synergy of two Australian organisations to work together”.
The purpose of this agreement is to promote the development and delivery of quality education, training and assessment which will enable NSW Maritime to issue, revalidate and endorse certificates of competency for holders of the IYT ‘Master of Yachts 200 tons (Offshore) offered only by Club Sail Pty Ltd in NSW.
This Memorandum of Understanding, between NSW Maritime & Club Sail Pty. Ltd. to formally recognize the IYT ‘Master of Yachts 200 tons’ (Offshore) was finalised on 19th July, 2006
