Founded in 2000, Superyacht Crew Academy became the first Australian partner of International Yacht Training Inc. (IYT), the world’s leading provider of superyacht training services. IYT provides a standardised approach to superyacht training globally and has 87 partnership schools in 25 countries. As a result, IYT’s Certificates of Competency are accepted in countries that include the 16 Red Ensign countries as well as Ireland, Marshall Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Bahamas, and Lebanon. No other superyacht training certification in the world has such global acceptance. One of the main reasons for this acceptance is the high quality of the training courses and the professional requirements for teaching them. Maritime officials recognise this competence and graduates of IYT can be assured their qualifications will be happily accepted everywhere.
Australia’s leading training provider offering both International and Australian qualifications for the Superyacht & Maritime Industries. Training is delivered by professional mariners with extensive industry knowledge and experience. Courses are taught to a very high standard, incorporating lots of practical and quality training at both on and offsite facilities.
In 2015 we set up the Sydney Maritime Institute as a division of the Superyacht Crew Academy to provide training courses for people wishing to work on Australian Commercial boats. The Sydney Maritime Institute accepts students over 16 years old and provides crossover training opportunities so students can obtain both Australian and international certifications during the same training period or with reduced additional training.
Superyacht Crew Academy has continued to expand over the years, but we maintain our passion for introducing yachting to clients and enabling them to upskill and enhance their employment opportunities. Our training facility is at 2 Queens Parade, Newport, close to Pittwater, where our training vessels are kept.
