All crew members need to be certified to operate a VHF marine radio.
LROCP (Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency) VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator’s Certificate Course
Every crew member should be licenced to operate a VHF Radio. VHF radios are used daily, sometimes from one part of the vessel to another, from Yacht to Tender, and in emergencies. Australian law requires anyone operating a VHF or HF radio of any size to have the VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP).
The VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency Examination
This is a full day course from, allocating one hour for the examination in this time. The course covers:
- Radio Operation
- Types of Marine Radios
- Rules and Regulations governing radio use locally and in foreign ports.
- Emergency Distress Calls
- Ship to Ship Calls
- Ship to Shore Calls
You will be provided with the required study materials and forms and then sit a one hour examination for your radio operator’s licence.
Training Location
The course is run from our Office in Warriewood NSW Australia and the Superyacht Crew Academy Training Facility at 25a/5 Ponderosa Parade , Warriewood. The facilities are a 45min drive North of Sydney’s CBD. To see a map of how to find us, Superyacht Training Facilities.
